In Teriberka, that place is the famous “Dragon’s Eggs” beach—one of the most mysterious and photogenic locations in the Russian North. At first glance, it looks as if giant eggs of ancient creatures really do lie here, forgotten by time on the shore of the Barents Sea.

This rugged corner of the Arctic has long been a symbol of Teriberka, and everyone who travels here tries to see it with their own eyes.
A place that can't be confused with anything else

"Dragon's Eggs" Beach

More about the location
The famous "dragon eggs" in Teriberka are huge, smooth boulders scattered along the coast. Their shape is so unusual that the place has been given an almost mythical name. In reality, this is a unique geological phenomenon created by nature over thousands of years.

Many tourists wonder: how were the “dragon’s eggs” in Teriberka formed? The answer is simple yet amazing: glaciers, seawater, wind, and the constant movement of rocks gradually smoothed the boulders, transforming them into perfectly rounded shapes.

Tourists often ask: Why are dragon eggs smooth? The answer is simple—it’s the never-ending work of nature, which is especially evident here.

What is "Dragon Eggs" Beach?

This beach is situated in the Teriberka Nature Park, on the coast of the Barents Sea. You can reach it on foot via a picturesque route through the tundra, or during one of our boat trips. It is from the water that you can see particularly well how this boulder-strewn beach in Teriberka literally cuts into the rugged coastline.
Where are the "Dragon Eggs"?
There are many iconic locations in the Arctic, but it is the unusual beach at Teriberka that has become the region’s calling card.

Here’s why people keep coming back:
  • unusual round boulders resembling stone eggs on the shore of the Barents Sea;
  • the constant movement of the waves, which changes the landscape every day;
  • the rugged northern atmosphere;
  • the unique light at any time of year;
  • the chance to see the Arctic in its pristine state.

Teriberka's rocky beach looks particularly impressive during a storm, when the waves crash over the boulders, transforming the shore into a force of nature.

This place is especially mesmerizing on a cloudy day: the gray sky, black cliffs, and wet boulders create an almost otherworldly landscape.

Everything is great!
Hi there! The weather wasn't quite what we'd hoped for, but we knew that was likely to be the case. We actually left Khibiny because of the weather. Everything went very well, though—I hope we'll be back when the weather is warmer and calmer.

Alexey
