The canyon through which the stream rushes was formed thousands of years ago by a rock fault. Gushing out of the lake, the water plunges from a height of about 10–15 meters down rocky ledges, crashing against the stones and creating a unique roar that can be heard long before the waterfall itself comes into view around the bend. Surrounded by terracotta-colored cliffs and rugged tundra, it seems to stand at the edge of the earth, where fresh water and the ocean, tundra and cliffs meet in a single majestic moment.
